Special Vehicle Services, or SVS, first traded in 1985, and then became a limited company starting 1987. Borne out of the creation and modification of exotic vehicles for conversion to luxury and customised specification for the Middle Eastern market - stretched Mercedes, extended Range Rovers, 6x6 wheel drive, Chevrolet engines into Range Rovers, supercharged Mercedes and so on. We maintained and modified cars for notable celebrities including Paul and Linda McCartney, Oliver Reed and Ian Pace, for both 'luxury and performance', often a pair of objectives that conflicted with one another. We soon became familiar with complex interior conversions involving re-trim colour change, wooden veneered cocktail cabinets, consoles to accomodate television and video systems and so on. We became suppliers to Aston Martin Lagonda, Hoopers (one of the UKs oldest coachbuiders) and Porsche Cars GB in the supply of interior wooden sets to enhance some of their models.

As our business grew, we found ourselves delivering 'customising components' to Mercedes Benz retail dealers up and down the UK as well as a number of Japanese clients with either their own or customers' exotica. In the background, our principal Director maintained his interest in tuning / customising both modern and old cars in pursuit of creating an exclusive blend of 'style and power'. We even became involved in exporting large amounts of original ('OE') parts to repair and modify both classic and modern Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini ,Bentley/Rolls Royce ,Daimler/Jaguar and other European exotica, including the occassional AC Cobra or GT40 owner. A service we can still offer today.

In 1987 we became the UK dealer for Schatz Tuning Germany, whose range of simple, effective and high quality aftermarket Mercedes add on items have expanded year on year to reflect the range that stands today. While selling their range of items, we became Lorinser sub-dealers (Sport Service Lorinser have a 35 year Mercedes Benz modification history and own two retail dealerships in Germany), as well as AMG, who when they were a mere competitor with all the other aftermarket modifiers, we represented them in London as fitting agents. We have possibly the oldest database in the Uk of AMG and Lorinser items which still proves extremely useful in supplying parts to repair those vehicles

In 1992, with a strong Mercedes Benz and export parts dealer base, we met a new client in Trust Co Japan (aka GReddy),helping them initially in the supply of unusual British motorsports items, including Willans harnesses, Hewland and Quaife differentials and transmissions and latterly Alcon calipers and discs, in order to fur nish the Japanese tuning market (at that use an enormous industry which has gradually been mirrored in other parts of the world, focussed on the modification of Japanese sports and turbocharged cars). As our relationship with Trust grew, we started importing to the UK parts from their enormous range of performance,styling and dress up items as the upward demand for those vehicles has grown in the UK. We now supply their products branded as 'GReddy', 'GREX', 'Gracer' and Trust to both retail and trade markets within the UK and Europe. Many of the UK's tuners rely on our services to deliver exhausts, turbo kits, intercoolers, gauges, boost controllers, turbo users ,suspension systems and other items from their wide range of products.

Meanwhile, the delivery of Mercedes styling items has continued, with components available for models both new and old, including accessory chrome items, stainless steel bars and functional side steps for off-road models,interior chrome and wooden parts (including combination wood and leather steering wheels, suspension lowering sets including both springs and shock absorbers,road wheels, and of course a range of quality boot lid spoilers some available with additional lighting, wind deflectors for convertible models, and functional items including car covers and snow chains for those wider/larger wheel and tyre sizes.

During the years that we have been delivering the above, we have also dealt as sub-dealers for the following products ; EIbach springs, B&M quick shifts, Bilstein shock absorbers,Castrol Classic oils, Daikin 'Exedy' clutches,KYB shocks, Nismo, OS Giken, Koni, Momo and so on. Our import / export activities have caused us to also import genuine parts for Japanese import models, and we have been operating a parts supply system for some 6 years importing genuine parts for origin Japan 'grey import' models, especially Subaru. We can offer a full insurance esusation service for these items and offer a fast import by air to repair damaged or broken vehicles at the earliest opportunity.
